A little help with Shinybox.
Start a collection, find your way around, or get in touch.
Save your first item
Use the add control to write a note, add a web link, paste content or import files, photos and videos. From another app, open its share sheet and select Shinybox. You can choose an existing list before saving.
Organize your collection
Create lists with a name, color and icon. Add items from their menu or drag cards onto a list. Smart Lists gather items that match your chosen type, date, favorites and text rules. Favorites, Recents, tags and content-type views give you other ways to browse.
Find text inside saved content
Search checks titles, note text, saved article text, tags, summaries and supported extracted text. Images can gain recognized text; supported imported audio can gain a transcript. Full-document PDF text search is not included in this version.
Use the Mac shelf
Hover over the tab at the screen edge to open the shelf. Drag supported content onto it to save, or drag an item out to another app. Option–Command–S toggles the shelf. In Settings, choose the screen edge, show or hide the shelf, and enable or disable launch at login.
Sync your library
Sign in to the same Apple iCloud account on your devices. Shinybox stores your library locally and uses iCloud when available. Settings shows the iCloud account status, last successful sync and any sync error.
Use Apple Intelligence
Automatic organization can add topic tags, a short summary and a suggested list. Automatic filing is optional. Open an item and choose Ask for questions about its saved text or supported images. You can save an answer as a new note.
Settings offers Automatic, On This Device and Private Cloud Compute. Automatic favors on-device organization where supported and Private Cloud Compute for Ask. On This Device can still fall back to Private Cloud Compute if the local model is unavailable. Ask shows which model answered.
Check that Apple Intelligence is enabled and supported for your device and language. Models may need to download. Private Cloud Compute needs a connection and is subject to Apple’s availability and usage limits.
Restore a deleted item
Open Deleted Items, then restore the item from its menu. Deleted items remain there for 30 days unless you permanently delete them sooner.
System requirements
macOS 27, iPadOS 27 or iOS 27 or later. Apple Intelligence has additional hardware, language and service requirements. Document previews and text extraction support vary by platform and format.
