Shinybox privacy policy
Effective date: 12 October 2026
Shinybox stores notes, links, images, PDFs, audio, videos, documents, and other files that you choose to save, together with previews, recognized text, transcripts, tags, summaries, and organizational information.
Storage and sync
Your library is stored on your device. When iCloud is available, Shinybox uses Apple's CloudKit service to sync the library through your Apple account. Shinybox does not operate its own library server or require a separate Shinybox account.
Apple Intelligence
Shinybox can process saved content using Apple's on-device models or Private Cloud Compute. Depending on your selected model and the task, text and images from the selected item may be sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute service. You can choose a model in Shinybox Settings. Feature availability depends on compatible devices, language, settings, and Apple's services.
Imported media and websites
Shinybox recognizes text in images and transcribes supported imported audio using on-device Apple frameworks. Language models may need to be downloaded. When saving a web link, Shinybox requests the linked website and associated preview images; those websites receive ordinary network-request information such as your IP address and are governed by their own privacy policies.
Preferences, tracking, and analytics
Shinybox stores preferences on your device. The current app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking integration.
Your choices
You choose what to save, can remove items from the library, and can configure AI and organization settings. iCloud is managed through your Apple account and system settings. Cloud synchronization and backups are subject to Apple's settings and retention practices.
Contact
Shinybox is developed by João Valente. For privacy questions, email joao.valente@outlook.com. If you contact support, the information you send will be used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private library content unless it is needed to explain an issue.
